Macro. No white balance (the wall looks much less yellow in real life). The diagonal was subconsious, though.
I decided to take this shot riding the escalator up in Montgomery Station. I couldn't get my camera set in time, so I rode it back down and then back up again to get the shot. Turns out the escalator's too fast for the low light and all I got was blur. Of course, there's plenty of empty bumpy wall space in the non-escalator parts of the station. Duh. Good for me, though.

Reading the Leaves in My Cup
Sometimes you're just trying to drink a cup of coffee and a photo jumps out at you waving its arms and screaming at the top of its lungs.
I had to shoot five of these to get the right composition. And then I still had to crop it. I went back and forth but finally decided that chopping off all three edges of the cup's rim brought the viewer's attention to the reflection.
I like the contrast of white and black, too.

Evans Diamond
The concrete did it for me. Classical and stern against the clouds.
Yeah, the sky is multiplied in Photoshop. I think I may have overdone this one. This is also my first attempt at changing the color temperature - the concrete has been warmed significantly in Photoshop.

Traffic
Bored in the car, stuck in traffic on the Bay Bridge. I shot a bunch of photos setting long exposures and spinning the camera on the dashboard. I was going to delete this one, but I got a kick out of the irony of this one. The streaks like fast moving cars while being stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Untitled
Another morning shot on the Berkeley campus. I'm a sucker for reflections in puddles.
I altered the color balance in Photoshop (auto color) for this shot to give it a richer golden flavor. The original was nice, but too washed out.

Skylight
Saw this skylight waiting for my train one morning. I immediately thought of the squared circle group.
Six O'Clock in the Evening
I like the negative space in this one. I was walking out of class and the unbroken expanse of blue in the sky caught my eye. I didn't think I'd be able to get both the moon and the Campanile in the frame. But I think the unusual angle highlights the distance between the two subjects.
In Dreams, She Rules the City
The cat likes the windowsill. It was only a matter of time. I shot about ten of these and wound up cropping this one to get the right feeling. It looks better with her in shadow rather than with the fill flash. More universal that way, I suspect.
South Hall, Morning
I like the morning light in this one, but I'm rarely up early enough to catch it.
I multiplied the sky a bit in photoshop to bring out the blue. It was a little flat before.

MacArthur BART is melting in the dark
Couldn't resist the title.
I was waiting for my train as this one pulled into the other platform. The expanse of sky and the angular lines of the tracks, train, and freeway against the vertical lightpoles conspired to send me reaching for my camera.
I wanted to catch it before the doors opened and people started swarming out, but I wasn't quick enough on the draw.

Raindropper
This shot is from the same stroll as the previous one. Despite it being the beginning of February, the Bay Area flora have decided that Spring is upon us. I like the conceptual contrast between the blossom and the overcast sky.
A second shot had the tower further away from the droplet, but I prefer this one.

Fade to Gray
The rain came on strong and with it, a thick fog during parts of the day. The top even of the Campanilie was ensconced in it. With a longer zoom, I might've captured a stronger effect.
I also like the pedestrian with umbrella, though masked somewhat by the tree. I dislike the truck, but it wasn't going anywhere.
