Walking through downtown San Francisco a few weeks back, I was struck by this view of one of the upscale alleys off Union Square. I like the sense that stacks and stacks of buildings are compressing the space. Just when it starts to feel claustrophobic, though, my eye is drawn to the people at the very bottom of the frame, which puts the whole view into perspective.
